Ireland finished last in the Water Polo Home Countries Championship in 1988, losing 23-4 to England, 14-5 to Wales and 16-0 to Scotland. Scotland took the title on home soil, with a victory over Wales and a draw with England, after the English could only draw with Wales in the final match of the tournament, played at Wishaw, near Glasgow.
