Egyptian National Football League Egyptian Bowl 2015-Present [Ref: 1-5]

The GUC Eagles have won four of the five Egyptian Bowls played to date. The first was in 2015, and the Eagles won the first three Bowls, the first two against Cairo Hellhounds, and the third against MSA Tigers. After the Cairo Hellhouds finally won the Egyptian Bowl in 2018, defeating Cairo Wolves, the Eagles won it back in 2019, triumphing over the MSA Tigers again in a shutout victory, 40-0.

The League is governed by the Egyptian Federation of American Football and is currently (2020) the only fully kitted contact American Football League in Africa.

ONEFA is the Public Collegiate American Football Association of Mexico, and prior to the split with the Private Colleges (CONADIEP) the ONEFA LIga Mayor Conferencia de los Diez Grandes (Major League Big 10 Conference) was the primary College American Football Conference in Mexico (now ONEFA and CONADIEP play off for the title).

In 1997 Aztecas de UDLA Puebla (a city east of Mexico City) won their third Big 10 Championship in a row, defeating Borregos Salvajes CEM (Technological University of Monterrey Wild Sheep) 50-7. Borregos Salvajes Monterrey (Monterrey Wild Sheep) won 20-17, dethroning the Aztecas in the Final in 1998 and repeated in 1999, again defeating the Aztecas 38-25.

Osos ENEP Acatlan (ENEP Bears) , from Estado de Mexico (Mexico State, west of the Federal District and Mexico City) played in the same city as the Irish Institute, Naucalpan (Acatlan), as did Sentinels CGP.

Tohoku University have won the Tohoku Collegiate American Football Association Championship a record 33 times since its inauguration in 1976. Nihon University (Faculty of Engineering) have won it 4 times, Tohoku Gakuin University and Sendai University 3 Times and Iwata University have won it once.

The Tohoku Collegiate American Football Association (TCAA) is the College Conference for Tohoku Region – Northeast Japan (Honshu Island). the winners of the TCAA go on to meet the Champions of the Hokkaido Region for the Pine Bowl North Japan Championship, with the Winners of that match meeting the Champions of the Kanto Region for the East Japan Championship.

Tohoku Collegiate American Football Association [Ref: 2]

Report

Tohoku University Hornets won the 2019 Tohoku Collegiate American Football association Championship with a perfect 4-0 Won-Loss Record. They then went on to meet Hokkaido University in the North Japan Pine Bowl, where they won 34-9. This allowed them to play in the East Japan Championship against the winners of the Kanto Region, where they lost 41-10 to Inada University. Tohoku Region is the Northeast Region of Japan, on Honshu Island, the biggest of Japan’s Islands.

Tohoku Student American Football Association (TCAA) Pine Bowl 2012-Present [Ref: 1-8]

Report

The Pine Bowl is the University Championship game for North Japan. It is played between the winners of the Tohoku Region (Northeast Japan – Honshu Island, the largest of Japan’s Islands) and Hokkaido Region (Hokkaido Island – the Northernmost of Japan’s main Islands). The winner goes on to meet the winners of Kanto Championship for the East Japan Championship.

Tohoku University Hornets (Tohoku Region) won the Pine Bowl 8 years in a row from 2012 to 2019. Hokkaido University were the Hokkaido representatives on six of these occasions, Sapporo Gakuin University the Hokkaido representatives in 2012, and Hokkai Gakuin University the representatives in 2018.

Report

The Maritime Football League is a Community-based post-High School Canadian Football League in the Maritime Provinces: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island (Ile St. Jean), and theoretically Newfoundland and Labrador although the Province has never had a Canadian Football team.

Saint John Wanderers, who played in Shamrock Park, in Saint John, New Brunswick from 2015 to 2018, won the Maritime Bowl in 2015, 2016 and 2018, with Moncton Mustangs winning the Bowl in 2017 and 2019.

Other teams have included the Nova Scotia Buccaneers and Halifax Harbor Hawks from Nova Scotia, The PEI Privateers and Island Mariners from Prince Edward Island (Ile St. Jean), and the Southern New Brunswick Ducks, from Quispamsis, a suburb of Sain John, New Brunswick.

British Gridiron Football League Playoffs 1988 [Ref: 4]

Report

The British Gridiron Football League was a Fifth Level American Football League in the North and Midlands of England in 1987, after which it absorbed the Capital League and a large number of UKAFL teams to form a Fourth Level League in 1988. In 1989 it merged with the UKAFA to form the British National Gridiron League, playing Levels 5 to 7 below the NDMA (First Level) and Combined Gridiron League (Levels 2 to 4)

Ulsterman Geoff Mackey, who was introduced to the game of American Football while studying at Liverpool Polytechnic, played for the Mersey Centurions in 1988, where he reached the Britbowl, losing 20-13 to the Woking Generals. In 1987 the Mersey Centurions had won the Britbowl 20-16 against the Leicester Huntsmen. His exploits for the Centurions saw him called up to the British and Irish Bulldogs for a five-week tour, taking in training in the United States, and then three Test Matches in Australia, from 4 November 1988 to the middle of December.

Geoff Mackey who played for the Mersey Centurions in 1988 and was called up to the British and Irish Lions for a three Test Tour of Australia that year [Ref: 6]

Alabama Crimson Tide won the 2015-16 National Collegiate Athletic Association Football Division 1 Football Bowl Series College Football Playoff National championship by beating Clemson tigers 45-40 in a close game.

Alabama had won the SEC Southeastern Conference title by beating Florida Gators 29-15, whilst Clemson had won the ACC Atlantic Coast Conference with a close 45-37 victory over North Carolina Tar Heels. In another close Conference championship Game, Michigan State Spartans won 16-13 against Iowa Hawkeyes, while in the PAC-10 Pacific 10 Conference, Stanford Cardinal won bragging rights for Northern California with a 41-22 victory over Southern California Trojans.

In the College Football Playoff Semi-Finals, Alabama defeated Michigan State 38-0 in a shutout victory, while in the other Semi-Final, Clemson had defeated Oklahoma, the Big 12 Conference Champions, 37-17.

In other Bowl games, Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost to Ohio State Buckeyes, 44-28 in the Fiesta Bowl, finishing 10-3 (Won-Lost) for the season.

Miami Hurricanes won the National Collegiate Athletic Association Football Division 1A title after beating #11 ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers 22-0 in the Orange Bowl in Nebraska’s first shutout for 18 years. At the end of the season they were 12-0 (Won-Loss), tied with Washington Huskies (also 12-0) but got the vote from the Press, who decided the National Champions by vote in the absence of a National Playoff system. Miami had won the Big East conference and Nebraska the Big 8 (Prairie States) Conference.

Washington had beaten Michigan Wolverines 34-14 in the Rose Bowl, a match-up between the Pacific-10 Conference champions and the Big 10 Champions (Upper Midwest). In the Cotton bowl, Florida State Seminoles, an independent, had defeated Texas A&M Aggies, the SWC Southwestern Conference Champions, 10-2. In another match-up between an independent and a Conference Champion, Notre Dame Fighting Irish won the Sugar Bowl with a 39-28 victory over Florida Gators, the SEC Southeastern Conference Champions. The other Bowl featuring a Conference Champion was the Holiday Bowl, featuring the WAC Western Athletic Conference Champions, Brigham Young Cougars and Iowa Hawkeyes, whih finisjed in a 13-all tie.
