Report

Starting with the World League of American Football in 1991 to 1992, which continued from 1995 to 2007 as a Europe-Only Development League of the National Football League, there has been numerous attempts at starting a Professional American Football League outside North America. From 1993 to 1995 European American Football teams started their ownn Pro League, which ended after the NFL restarted the WLAF in 1995. In 2012 former NFL coaches and players started the Elite Football League of India, and in 2019, teams in Poland, Lithuania, Russia and Belrus started the European Super League. Emmett Waldron, who was born in Cork, played for the Scottish Claymores in the WLAF / NFL Europe League from 1995 to 1998.

As well as attempts to start leagues outside North America, there has been attemptsat starting a rival league to the NFL, with the first such attempt since the USFL of the 1980s, being the Canadian Football League’s attempts to start a United States Divison which lasted from 1993 to 1995.A four-team Spring League was played in 2000 but failed due to the start of the XFL in 2001, which failed also, due this time to its product been seen as too different from standard American Football. From 2009 to 2011 the United Football League played as an NFL Development League and from 2011 to 2013 (Stars Football League), 2014 to 2015 (Fall Experimental Football League) and 2017-2020 (The Spring League) attempts were made to play a Pro League in just one locality. Major Pro Leagues returned in 2019 with the Alliance of American Football, which went bankruot after 8 weeks, and the XFL 2020, which lasted five weeks but shut down due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic.

European Super League – East European Super League Regular Season 2019 [Reference: 2]

Report

The European Super League was an American Football League featuring four teams from Poland and two from Lithuania in the Topliga and three from Russia and one from Belarusin the East European Super League, that followed on from the Central European Football League (2006-2016) and the Amsterdam Crusaders (International-only schedule 2018) as the top level European American Football League played on a weekly basis in two or more countries.

The two Divisions (or Leagues) played separate schedules until the Final. Topliga Champions were Warsaw Eagles who defeated Bydgoszcz Archers, both Poland, 20-0 in the Topliga Final. Lithuania’s Vilnius Iron Wolves were defeated in the Semi-Final. East European Super League Champions were Moscow Spartans who had a surprisingly easy 42-16 victory over St. Petersburg North Legion in the EESL Final. There were plans for a European Super League Topliga – East European Super League Final between the Warsaw Eagles and EESL Champions Moscow Spartans but it appears to have not taken place.

National Football League Preseason Standings 1995 [Reference: 1]

Report

1995 saw large-scale change in the National Football League. Debutants Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars played in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, to open the Preseason, with the Panthers winning the battle of expansion franchises 20-14. The two Los Angeles teams also embarked for new patstures: the Rams to St. Louis and the Raiders back to Oakland. Two American Bowls were played that year – Buffalo Bills defeating Dallas Cowboys 9-7 in Toronto, Canada, and Denver Broncos winning 24-10 in Tokyo, Japan against San Francisco 49ers.

Elsewhere the Houston Oilers, a year before they left for Tennessee, played two preseason home games outside Houston: versus Washington Redskins in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Dallas Cowboys in San Antonio, Texas, losing both. Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers also played a game in Orlando, Florida, with Tampa Bay Buccaneers winning, while the New England Patriots lost a ‘home’ game in Stanford, California to the Oakland Raiders, and the New York Jets similarly lost a home game versus Philadelphia Eagles at Jackson, Mississippi. Preseason Division Champions were Indianapolis Colts (3-1, AFC East), Cleveland Browns (2-2, AFC Central), Kansas City Chiefs (3-1, AFC West), Philadelphia Eagles (4-0, NFC East), Detroit Lions (3-1, NFC Central), and Carolina Panthers (3-2, NFC West). Only the Kansas City Chiefs went on to win their Division durling the Regular Season.

Report

The National Football League Preseason of 1986 featured the American Bowl ’86 in London, England, where the Chicago Bears defeated the Dallas Cowboys 17-6. The Preseason, as usual, opened with the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, where the New England Patriots won a tight game 21-16 against the St. Louis Cardinals. After four more weeks of games, Preseason Division titles went to New England Patriots (4-1, AFC East), Cleveland Browns (4-0, AFC Central), San Diego Chargers (3-1, AFC West), New York Giants (3-1, NFC East), Chicago Bears (4-1, NFC Central), and Atlanta Falcons (2-2, NFC West). Four of these teams went on to win their Regular Season Division title, only the San Diego Chargers (who lost out to the Denver Broncos) and Atlanta Falcons who lost out to San Francisco 49ers, failed to translate Preseason form into Regular Season Championships.

About Shinty

Shinty is Gaelic Scotland’s traditional version of Hurling. It is one of the forgotten Gaelic, Celtic or Atlantic Games like Basque Pelota and Welsh Baseball, played mostly in Gaelic parts of Scotland like the Highlands and Islands. The game is very similar to Hurling, with a curved stick used to hit a ball through a goal, except there is no point-over-the-bar and less play in the air. The game is 12-a-side as opposed to Hurling’s 15-a-side. The Shinty National League Division 1 was the Second Level of Men’s Shinty from 2004 to 2007.

Report

The Hurling-Shinty International Series between Ireland and Scotland, which had been discontinued in 1980, was revived in 1988. The first five encounters were fairly evenly matched, and Ireland split the series 2-2 with Scotland, with one drawn match. From then on Scotland took over, winning 6 of the next seven encounters, with one tie, despite the scoring system changing from goals only to goals (3 Points) and overs (1 point) in 1996, which should have given Ireland an advantage as the Scottish game is played mostly on the gounnd with no overs. It was said in one report in the Irish Independent in 1999, that the Irish failed to care enough. With a new millennium dawning a new approach was necessary from Ireland, it was said.

About Hurling-Shinty International Rules

Hurling-Shinty International Rules, also known as Compromise Rules, is a game featuring as its name suggests a compromise between the two codes of Gaelic Hurling: Irish Hurling (15-a-side and Points over the bar as well as goals) and Scottish Shinty (12-a-side, Goals only). currently the sport is 14-a-side with both goals and points over tha bar counting, although in the past 13-a-side has been used, as well numerous scoring systems, such as Goals-and-points, Goals-only, Goals-and-Points-with-a-double-score-for-a-Scottish-Shinty-Point (Shinty is played on the ground, giving Hurling, which is played through the air an advantage in points); and Goals-Points-And-Behinds (worth 6 points, 3 Points and 1 Point respectively as opposed to 3 points for a goal an one for a point usually). There is also a Camogie-Shinty version of the game for Women.

Indoor Football League Regular Season Results 2021 [Reference: 3]

Report

Weeks 1-3 23 April – 8 May 2021

Playing a 3-game schedule between themselves to start the 2021 Indoor Football League schedule in USA, Green Bay Blizzard (Wisconsin) and Massachusetts Pirates both got off to 2-1 Wins-Losses starts while Bismarck Bucks (North Dakota) started 1-1 and expansion franchise Louisville Xtreme got off to an 0-2 start. The Blizzard lost their opening game 36-41 at home to Bismarck, but then won 40-36 at home to Massachusetts before a much easier 49-29 victory over the Xtreme. The Pirates had big wins over both Louisville Xtreme (49-18 on opening day) and 36-18 versus Bismarck Bucks.

Week 4 15-16 May 2021

Bismarck Bucks moved to 2-1 with a win over Green Bay Blizzard, which dropped the Blizzard to 2-2. Meanwhile, most of the rest of the League played their opening games. Iowa Barnstormers defeated Sioux Falls Storm 56-36, early indication that the Storm’s long-standing record of Bowl wins and appearances may be threatened in 2021. Making their debut were Frisco Fighters, from Texas, who triumphed in their first ever game 36-33 at Spokane Shock of Washington State, one of the oldest of the Arena Indoor Football teams.

About

Previously AA, it has since the demise of the AAA Arena Football League after the 2019 season, it has expanded its Geographic Reach, and has taken the AFL’s position as the AAA League in Indoor/Arena Football. This version of American Football is most popular in Mexico, hence names like Tucson Sugar Skulls. LEXFA (Liga Extrema de Futbol Arena) in Mexico is the Major League (and also one of four Mexican Majors)

About

Calcio Storico Fiorentino has been played in Florence, Tuscany since the Renaissance, around 1460-1470 AD. The first organised match took place on February 17, 1530. It was revived in the 20th Century, first under the 1930s government of Mussolini, and then again after World War II in the Italian Republic. Earlier matches dating back to the 1400s mention games played in breaks between work by workers [Reference: 2-5]

The matches usually take place during the June Festival period, with four teams, Azzurri, Bianchi, Rossi and Verdi (Blues, Whites, Reds and Greens) representing the four quarters of the city of Florence. The match is played between 54 players – two teams of 27 – with teams reversing ends after each score. It is played on sand in the Plaza. There are usually a Semi-Finals and Final. Half Points are scored, and teams play in traditional dress.
