Report

X-League Extreme Football is a Western USA based Women’s Arena Football League which replaced the Legends Football League. It has 8 teams scheduled to start a mini-league of 2 games each plus playoffs starting in June 2021. By the second half of May 2021, the schedule had been updated to begin in 2022 with the 2021 season cancelled due to concerns over the safety of the athletes due to COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic, the second year that was postponed, meaning in all likelihood it is a failed league.

National Football League 2020 [References: 2-19]

Report

The 2020 National Football League season kicked off on 11th September 2020 with the Kansas City Chiefs defeating the Houston Texans 34-20 in a Thursday Night Game.

After 5 weeks the only undefeated teams were Buffalo Bills (4-0), Pittsburgh Steelers (4-0), Tennessee Titans (3-0) in the AFC and Green Bay Packers (4-0) and Seattle Seahawks (5-0) in the NFC. One game in week 4 and two in week 5 had to be postponed, including two Titans games, due to positives in the camps of a number of teams.

By the end of October (Week 7) Pittsburgh Steelers (6-0, AFC North) were the only undefeated team in the league. Kansas City Chiefs (6-1, AFC West), Tennessee Titans (5-1, AFC South) and Buffalo Bills (5-2, AFC East) were the Division leaders in the American Football Conference, while Philadelphia Eagles (2-4-1, NFC East), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-2, NFC South), Green Bay Packers (5-1-0, NFC North) and Seattle Seahawks (5-1-0, NFC West) were the leaders of the four National Football Conference Divisions.

By the end of November (Week 12), Pittsburgh Steelers (10-0, AFC North) were still undefeated, and defending Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs were leading the AFC West (10-1), with Buffalo Bills (8-3, AFC East) and Tennessee Titans (8-3, AFC South) still leading their divisions. In the NFC New York Giants had put together a three-game winning streak to lead the NFC East despite only being 4-7, while Green Bay Packers (8-3, NFC North), New Orleans Saints (9-2, NFC South) and Seattle Seahawks (7-3, NFC West) led their respective divisions.

By the end of the season in the first week of January the Steelers had dropped back to 12-4 but still won the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens (11-5) making the Wild-Cards. Securing Home Field advantage for the playoffs in the AFC were the Kansas City Chiefs who won the AFC West with a 14-2 record, just ahead of AFC East Champions Buffalo Bills (13-3). The AFC South was won by Tennessee Titans on 11-5 in a tie-breaker with the Indianapolis Colts who were also made the playoffs. Cleveland Browns, also 11-5 reached the playoffs too despite finishing third in the AFC North.

The NFC saw Washington Football Team win their division, the NFC East with an historically bad 7-9 losing record. Home Field advantage for the playoffs went to Green Bay Packers (13-3, AFC North), and Seattle Seahawks (12-4, NFC West) and New Orleans Saints (12-4, NFC South) were the other Division Champions. Also making the playoffs in the NFC were Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11-5), Los Angeles Rams (10-6) and Chicago Bears (8-8).

The Wildcard Round saw Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns progress from the AFC and Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints win through from the NFC. The Divisional Playoffs saw Buffalo Bills defeat Baltimore Ravens 17-5 and Kansas City Chiefs knock out Cleveland Browns 22-17 to make the AFC Championship which Kansas City won 38-24. The NFC Divisional Playoffs went to Green Bay Packers 32-18 against Los Angeles Rams and in the other game the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated New Orleans Saints 30-20. The Buccaneers reached the Super Bowl 31-26 in a close encounter with the Packers.

The Super Bowl itself was a showdown between Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs with the veteran Brady winning the contest 31-9 for the Buccaneers against the newcomer Patrick Mahomes. It was Brady’s seventh Super Bowl Ring (each Super Bowl winning team gets a jewel encrusted ring for each player), a record, higher than any team ever (Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers winning 6 each)

Kemari (Japanese Football Code) 794-Present

Report

Kemari is an ancient Japanese Football game resembling hacky-sack or keepy-uppies. The aim of the players is to keep the ball in the air by kicking it with the leg or feet, either to another player or to themselves. It is the achievement of the highest artistic performance that is important rather than winning. It is played by 6-8 players and is not limited by time. In the Modern Era it is usually stopped by one of the players selected as the game leader and resumed after a break. Each game usually lasts 10-15 minutes. It is played by both men and women and is considered a national sport, enjoyed by families, three generations sometimes playing at the same, which is not unusual to see. It dates from the Heian Period (794-1195).

Please Note: this game gets off to a slow start, like a Japanese Tea Ceremony. Jump to about 2 minutes in to see how similiar to the modern game of hacky sack it is.

Report

In 1956 the Canadian Football League broke away from the Canadian Rugby Union, and played as a stand-alone league. The winners of the Grey Cup that year were Edmonton Eskimoes 50-27 versus Montreal Alouettes. In 1957 Hamilton Tiger-Cats won 32-7 against Winnipeg Blue Bombers to take home the coveted cup, although in 1958 Winnipeg got revenge, triumphing 35-28 over the Tiger-Cats. The Blue Bombers repeated in 1959, winning again against Hamilton, this time 21-07. In 1960 The IRFU renamed itself the Eastern Football Conference and its’ Champions the Ottawa Rough Riders defeated Edmonton Eskimoes 16-6 in a low-scoring game to win the Grey Cup. The Western Interprovincial Union was renamed the Western Football Conference in 1961.

About

The Canadian Football League was formed in 1958 when the Western Interprovincial Football Union and Interprovincial Rugby Football Union broke away from the Canadian Rugby Union, and adopted more American Football style pf play. During the 1950s it can be seen as a AAA Football League, becoming a Major League in 1960 with the adoption of an inter-locking schedule and the renaming of the Western Inter-Provincial Football Union and the Inter-Provincial Rugby Football Union as the Western and Eastern Conferences.

Report

Donegal were again winners of the Irish National Darts Organisation All-Ireland Inter-County Championship in 2007, with a 7-5 victory over Cork in the final. They had defeated Limerick 7-5 in the Quarter-Finals and Kilkenny 7-4 in the Semi-Finals. Cork defeated Dublin 7-3 in the other Semi-Final.

Dublin were perhaps lucky to have qualified for the Quarter-Finals, having lost 8-4 to Meath in their First Round Group. Meath won all three of their matches in the Group, but Dublin, having done far better in their games with Clare (winning 11-1) and Cavan (winning 10-2) were winners of the group having won more Legs (25 to Meath’s 24).

Meath, however, qualified for the Quarter-Finals through the Playoffs, where the six Group runners-up met for the final two Quarter-Final places. Here Meath comprehensively defeated Galway (8-0) and Westmeath (8-1), but were drawn against Dublin again in the Quarter-Finals and despite being 4-1 and 6-5 up lost in the end 7-6. The other Quarter-Finalists were Louth and Kildare.
