Report
The St. Joseph’s Cardinals won the Northern Junior Gridiron League in 1994 defeating Doncaster Wildcats 16-12 thanks to two long touchdown runs by Michael Jones (65 yards) James Roberts (41 yards). Their first match was declared a 6-6 tie by League management after Daniel O’Shaughnessey’s Overtime winner for the Cardinals was declared void as no overtime should have been played.
The Cardinals were a team from St. Joseph’s Primary School in St. Helens, Birkenhead, Merseyside.
The Northern Junior Gridiron League Junior League was a Two Touch League for 8-11 year olds in the North of England. Two Touch was a variation on Flag Football whereby the ball carrier was tackled by placing two hands on him or her.
