Glasgow Lions won the Capital Bowl for the third time in 1990, and the first since 1987, when they previously entered, by defeating Edinburgh Phoenix in the Final, in what was a match-up between arguably the two best Scottish American Football teams at the time.

The Capital Bowl was a Scottish American Football Weekend tournament held annually at Meadowbank Stadium, in Edinburgh.

The Musselburgh Magnums got revenge on the Glasgow Diamonds in the Capital Bowl on 30 April 1989, winning 9-6 in the Final, a result that was a reverse of the Final in 1988.

The Capital Bowl was a Scottish American Football Weekend tournament held annually at Meadowbank Stadium, in Edinburgh.
