Report

The Major Indoor Lacrosse League, known since 1997 as the National Lacrosse League, has become the Major Lacrosse League in North America and the World with teams throughout Canada, and the United States of America. It played its first season in 1987 as the Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League with four teams: Baltimore Thunder, Philadelphia Wings, Washington Wave and New Jersey Saints. Baltimore Thunder won the first NLL Championship game defeating Washington Wave 11-10.

The League became known as the Major Indoor Lacrosse League in 1988. The second season saw all four teams return, with Washington Wave again the defeated finalists, losing the 1988 NLL Championship Game 17-16 to New Jersey Saints.

All four teams returned for the 1989 season, although the New Jersey Saints relocated to Long Island and became the New York Saints in the process. The four teams were joined by the Detroit Turbos and New England Blazers, from Boston. Philadelphia Wings won the Championship Game 11-10 over the New York Saints.

After the 1989 season the Detroit Turbos sat out the season and were replaced by the expansion Pittsburgh Bulls. The Philadelphia Wings became the first team to repeat as Champions, defeating New England Blazers 17-7 in the 1990 Championship Game.

The League averaged crowds of 9,614 in 1989 and 11,060 in 1990.

About

The National Lacrosse League is the Major Box or Indoor Lacrosse League in North America and the World. Box Lacrosse is played in an Indoor Arena with 6 players per team, as opposed to 10 for Men’s Lacrosse and 12 for Women’s Lacrosse. It is the National Summer Sport of Canada, and was codified there and played originally by Native Americans in Northeast USA and Eastern Canada. It is still popular among Native Americans, and is the only sport where they can represent their country internationally (the Native American National Team is known as Iroquois Nationals in Men’s Lacrosse and Haudenosaunee in Women’s Lacrosse).

Tiptree Titans 10 London Acorn Lasers 6

A shaky start by both offenses led to a low-scoring first half, with Simon Dobinson making the sole score in the second quarter, a 40-yard field goal, after missing one in the first period from 27 yards. In the third quarter both sides scored touchdowns, Tiptree’s Quarterback Dominic Harvey connecting with Wide Receiver James Cooke to bring them to the 20-yard line, and then on a fake field goal, holder and free safety Stephen Lamb threw to Michael Lane in the endzone. The Lasers hit back immediately, with Simon Paris running 94-yards on the kickoff return, aided by some excellent blocking. The two extra-point attempt, which would have left them within a Field Goal, failed, leaving the score 10-6 to Tiptree Titans at the end. There was some consolation for the London acorn Lasers as Simon Paris earned the game MVP for his run.

Report

From 1998 to 2002 the British Senior Flag League ran 9v9 and 5v5 Flag American Football Leagues in England. The 5v5 version was the International Standard as promoted by the NFL, but England also ran a 9v9 Senior Championship.

In 2003 the League renamed itself the English Senior Flag League. Fen Harriers won that year and from 2004 to 2005 the Leicester Europa Eagles won the title.

The popularity of 9v9 dropped off after 2002, and the format was no longer used after 2005, as the NFL standard became the British Standard. While the League was called the British Senior Flag League prior to 2003, and was open to all teams in Britain, all teams were English and there was a separate Scottish Flag Football Association north of the border. The British American Football Association officially recognized Flag Football and took over the running of both leagues in 2008.

Report

The origins of Croquet are unclear, it may have been played in the Middle Ages, and possibly even have passed down from ancient times. The first mention of Croquet, however, is in the Field in 1858, which mentions meetings of the Co. Meath Croquet Cracks. the players were mostly young and met at each others houses, and one player, George Annesley Pollock of Oatlands and Newcastle, Co. Meath, laid out the rules under the pseudonym “corncrake” and called them “The Rules of the Oatlands Club” – the first Croquet Rules in the World.

The Championship of Ireland, an Open featuring some of the top players of the World, has been won numerous times since 1988 by Irish Croquet players Simon Williams, Ronan McInerney, Mark McInerney and Andrew Johnston.

Report

The idea for American 7s came to Ryan DePaul late in 2002. His High School Football playing career was over and there was no possibility of playing College Football. He was playing pick-up, no pads or helmet football in parks and thought it needed codifying, so in 2005 he began to develop 7v7 No Pads, No Helmet, Tackle American Football.

In 2014 he was approached by lifelong friend and entrepreneur, Sener Korkusuz about launching the League to Major League level. Soon afterwards the American 7s Football League was born, starting its first season in March 2015.

The 2015 season was covered in Regional Press in Maryland and well as National and International Websites, with the 2015 Champion being Paterson New Jersey U. The 2016 Champions was Trenton New Jersey Brothers in Christ (New Jersey BIC), and in 2017 Union City (New Jersey) Chiefs won the Chapionship, which was a milestone for the league as it was televised on ELEVEN Sports Network in 70 Million households in the USA and 8 countries Worldwide.

In 2018 the League was won by Baltimore Gators, 28-14 over Baltimore Vikings, and in 2019, PA Immortalz won the Championship, defeating NJ Paterson U 26-19. For the 2020 Season the League added a West Coast Division with teams in Long Beach, Riverside and San diego, but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Investors included former NFL Player and household name, Deion “Prime Time” Sanders. [Ref: 4-5]

Report

Futbol Americano Mexico (FAM) was started in 2018, playing its first season in 2019, as a rival to the Liga Futbol Americano Profesional (LFA) in Mexico. It was the first league other than the NFL to play by NFL rules, with the exception of overtime, which is by NCAA rules. All other leagues outside of America, bar the Canadian Football League (which has its own rules) are played under NCAA rules. [Ref: 4]

The 2020 League was suspended after the games on 14 March due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic. Tequileros de Jalisco (3-1) and Bulldogs de Naucalpan (2-1) were out in front in the Division Voit. In Division BWW, Caudillos de Chuihuahua were clear leaders on a 4-0 Won-Loss Record.
