Report
In the warm-up to the World Cup in London, England, in July and August 2018, the Ireland Womens International Hockey Team played a series of friendly games in Spain, Scotland and Germany as well as two series at home in preparation for the World Cup.
In Benalmadena in February, Ireland split a four game series with Spain, winning two and losing two, before heading to Glasgow in May and June, where they won all three matches against Scotland.
After a couple of training games against England in June they returned home to play a three game series against Canada in Pembroke Wanderers, Dublin, drawing the second but losing the first game.
They then travelled to Germany at the end of June, splitting a two-game series with Germany, and drawing with Canada before finishing off the friendly series with a win and two losses at home against Japan in Cork.
A 3 Nations Series against Chile and Italy in Dublin at the end of the friendly series was the last of the preparation matches.
